Minister to Young Adults
John Lemons -Minister to Young Adults
I grew up in and out of churches during my childhood. In spite of this, my parents still raised me with a healthy reverence for God and, at age 8, I prayed to receive Christ as my Savior. When I was 10, we joined Grace Baptist Church in Woodbridge, VA and it was there that I began to understand the dynamics of a walk with Christ. At 12, I was baptized and at 19, while in college, I accepted the call to full-time ministry. I was drawn to Beeson Divinity School because of its mission to “train pastors who preach,” as well as its diverse and ecumenical faculty and student body. In 2005, I accepted the call to be the fulltime Minister of Recreation and Outreach at Ridgedale Baptist in Chattanooga, TN. I was ordained in October of 2005.
I have been married to Emily Heckman Lemons since 2002. We have two daughters – Hannah (11) and Lydia (8). While in Chattanooga, Emily she has been the Early Childhood Manager at the Creative Discovery Museum, an educational children’s museum in Chattanooga.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, golf, softball, traveling, lazy Saturday mornings, being outside with my family, watching NFL football and Nationals baseball.
