Joy
Moore loves preschoolers and their families! One of her greatest desires
is for preschoolers to develop a love for and knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Believing that Jesus came for all people, regardless of abilities, Joy
also has a heart for the continuing development and growth of the Special
Needs ministry at FBC. Joy's own love for Christ has guided her ministry
to the families of FBC.
A native of Birmingham, Joy and her family have been members of FBC
since 1971. As a member here, she served as Sunday School teacher, Sunday
School Coordinator for Children and Preschool, Worship Care Coordinator,
Choir Leader, Sanctuary Choir Member and Music Secretary.
In 1985, Joy was called to be Director of the Weekday Early Education
Ministry of FBC. In February of 2002, she was called as FBC's Minister
of Preschool. Joy is active in supporting preschool and children's organizations
statewide and nationally. She has led preschool conferences in Florida,
Georgia and Alabama. Joy has served on the State of Alabama Vacation
Bible School team and has led VBS clinics for the Madison Baptist Association
on several occasions. She is active in and has served in leadership
capacities in Alabama Association for Young Children (AAYC), Tennessee
Valley Association for Young Children (TVAEYC), Voices for Children
of Alabama, National Association of Child Care Professionals and Madison
County Day Care Director's Association.
In addition to sharing Jesus with preschoolers and their families at
FBC, Joy has been part of mission teams to Spain, Gambia and Mali.
Joy is married to the love of her life, Michael, whom she met while
they were both students at Samford University. After their marriage,
his graduation from Law School and a short time in Montgomery, Alabama,
the Moore family moved to Huntsville in 1971. Joy and Michael were blessed
to raise their own 3 children at FBC Huntsville.
When not ministering to the preschoolers of First Baptist, Joy enjoys spending time with her 3 married children, 4 grandchildren and 2 grand-dogs. She also does volunteer work in the community and sings in the Eugene Brasher Chorale.
