Having served in a variety of ministry areas Mike is now serving as Minister of Missions and Outreach here at First Baptist. Mike says, "it seems like every position and every opportunity I have had in serving God has led to this place and ministry in my life."

Before coming to First Baptist Huntsville in the Fall of 1987, Mike served churches in Arkansas, Texas, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Mississippi as either Minister of Youth or Education. On coming to First Baptist he served 17 years as the Minister of Recreation. On October 1, 2003 he began his present position in missions and outreach.

"In this position I have had the opportunity to see many new beginnings in missions and in the outreach of the church and it has been wonderful to see how God is working in so many ways here at First Baptist."

Mike received his Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Ouachita Baptist University and his Masters in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Having an interest in drama all during his ministry he has written many serious and fun dramas for the church and conventions. In his free time he enjoys working in the yard, playing guitar, and woodworking.

He is married to the former Brenda Humbard whom he met at Ouachita. Brenda teaches senior English at Hazel Green High School. Brenda and Mike have two grown sons, Stuart and Adam.

In his free time, Mike enjoys racquetball, playing guitar, music and drama.
