Mendelssohn's Elijah

Thank you, to our Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra members who brought the message of Mendelssohn’s ELIJAH to life before our eyes on Sunday evening, April 26.  And thank you to each FBC person who helped promote the presentation and then welcome the huge crowd that filled our sanctuary that evening.   The response of those in attendance has been overwhelming.

We were so proud of our singers and instrumentalists who had invested time, talent and energy into learning and presenting such a masterwork.  Joining with their counterparts from FBC Nashville and the various technical crews, these dedicated musicians helped our church to again touch the city with incredible inspiration from the scriptures.  Plus, our Music Ministry participants grew deeper and stronger from the in-depth experiences with the narratives of Elijah as expressed in a masterwork.

We praise God for the life and witness of the prophet Elijah, whose boldness of faith and mission still serves as a model for us in the 21st century.  We praise God for the music of Felix Mendelssohn (who, incidentally, was born in 1809, the same year as our church!), which communicated the scriptures in a beautiful and compelling fashion.  We praise God for a church family which supported and helped to make successful this endeavor, including sermons, SS lessons, a Sunday evening class, preparatory retreats, media support, and personal promotion.  We give God the glory for all that has occurred with this truly significant project.
