Sunday, October 19, was a special day of worship for the Hull family. We all gathered in Birmingham at the Mountain Brook Baptist Church. My father preached there on that day. This sermon will likely bring closure to a seventeen year ministry of preaching and teaching in that church. His recent diagnosis of having ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) means that his ministry will now primarily take the form of writing. On October 19 he shared with the congregation a sermon called “The Darkness that is Light” as he proclaimed how faith makes a difference in the struggles of life.
Many people in our church family have graciously asked about our experiences on that day. With the generous help of Mountain Brook Baptist, we have a video that was recorded during worship and the text of my father’s sermon. The video contains my Dad reading Scripture and making some introductory remarks, our daughter Emily singing “The Lord is my Light”, and then the sermon by Dad.
Thank you for your prayers for our family during these days. We place this information on our web site in hopes that you will be strengthened and encouraged by what you see and read.
