Additional Preschool Ministries

Our additional preschool ministries include Cradle Roll, Weekday Early Education, Childcare Employees, and Preschool Education Workgroup. Our preschool ministries also include special occasions such as Family Dedications, Worship Helpers, Preschool Play Days, Parenting Conferences, and Vacation Bible School.

Cradle Roll Cradle Roll is a division of Preschool Sunday School that reaches into the homes of new and expectant parents. Through regular personal contact by our Cradle Roll visitors, these families receive Christian parenting resources, devotional literature, and the loving support of Christian friendship and encouragement. In addition to the regular home visits, Cradle Roll sponsors a special dinner each year for the new parents of our church.
Weekday Early Education(WEE) Weekday Ministry provides care and guided learning experiences for preschoolers through two different licensed programs:
Full-Day Infant (6 weeks old) through Kindergarten classes offered, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:30 AM.
Half-Day Infant through Kindergarten classes offered on various days, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, (School year only)
Childcare Employees A staff of trained, caring employees provides care for our youngest preschoolers on Wednesday and Sunday evenings and for children through Grade 6 for special events as scheduled throughout the year. Childcare Guidelines used at First Baptist are available online or by calling the Childhood Ministries Office (428-9411).
Family Dedications Families are offered the opportunity to make a public commitment to the Christian nurture of their children through their participation in a Family Dedication service at various times throughout the year.

Family Dedication is a commitment time for parents and our church as we dedicate ourselves to giving our children both a family home and a church home rich in Christian love and nurture. Family Dedication is not to be confused with baptism. Baptism occurs when the child has expressed his own faith. The Family Dedication service is a covenant time between parents, the church, and God.

To schedule a time to participate in a Family Dedication service, call the Childhood Ministries Office, 428-9411.

Worship Helper Class The four-year-old Sunday School year is the time we begin to transition children from Worship Care into the experience of congregational worship. To help in this transition, we offer a series of "Worship Helper" classes for these children in the fall of each year. During the Worship Helper classes, various worship leaders meet with the children to discuss different aspects of congregational worship. Particular emphasis is given to helping the children know how they can participate in the congregational worship experience.
Mothers and Others A play group of Mothers and Children who plan field trips and special playdays together. this is open to anyone with a preschooler who might b searching for playmates. For more information about this outreach ministry, contact Melissa Boothe (830-5263).
Parenting Conferences Parenting Conferences are scheduled regularly throughout the year in a variety of settings and on a variety of topics. Information on thse classes will be in The Messenger.
Vacation Bible School A week of Bible study and fun offered each summer for children age four by September 1 of the past school year through completed kindergarten.
Preschool Education Committee The purpose of the Preschool Education Workgroup is to provide leadership to our Preschool Ministries. The workgroup advises, consults with, and supports the Minister of Preschool Education in the discharge of his/her duties.

The workgroup is comprised of the Preschool Sunday School Division Directors, Cradle Roll Director, Preschool Music/Missions Coordinator, Mission Friends Director, WEE Committee Chairman, Recreation Committee representative, a father of a preschool child, and a mother of a preschool child. EX-officio members of the committee are the WEE Assistant Director, the Childcare Coordinator, the Minister of Preschool.
