The Special Music Ministry Events Division provides many creative opportunities to use music and the arts in the ministry of the church. Mission Tours here and abroad, the fabulous Living Christmas Tree, and a Summer Music Camp for children are found in this division of our work, as are the numerous special concerts offered during the year by our music groups.  (Recent years have seen “Bluegrass and Stained Glass,” “A Prism of Praise,” and the various special presentations of our FBC Orchestra.)   Our Music Ministry is also featured through special media presentations of the First Baptist Church Television Ministry, including a Christmas Day broadcast of the Living Christmas Tree.

FBC provides special touches upon the community through opening up its music ministry facilities for use by several city-wide musical organizations, including the Huntsville Community Chorus and Children’s/Youth Chorales, the Huntsville Youth Orchestra, and in our annual hosting of the Huntsville City Schools All City Chorus festival and concert.

In 2010 FBC began a Harp Ministry.  The church now owns two harps, one a professional model and the other a starter harp.  Private Instruction is available.  Please contact the Music Ministry Office for details.

MasterClasses are offered periodically by our Music Ministry.  These special, in-depth sessions with professional musicians are designed to strengthen the skills and techniques of FBC Music Ministry participants as we all seek to “Sing to the Lord a new song…..play skillfully with shouts of joy!” (Psalm 33:3).  Since beginning this series of MasterClasses in 2009, opportunities have been provided for FBC musicians by the following clinicians—Evelyn Loerhlein (flute), Dan Drill (trombone), Ron Wray (clarinet), Jim Rogers (handbells), Elizabeth Hostetter (piano), Bruce Zeiger (trumpet), and Suzanne Galer (voice).  A French Horn MasterClass is slated for late summer, 2011.

Guest artists and performing groups are often involved in various Music Ministry presentations.  For a recent list of special guests, please contact the Music Ministry Office.
