Musaic Masterclasses

FLUTES – Rosa Richardson is instructor of flute and flute choir at UAHuntsville.
She has a Master of Music Performance from MTSU. She performs with
the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, and with many other orchestras in the
southeast. Rosa is the children’s music leader at Asbury church in Madison.

CLARINETS – David Mitchell is a member of the Army Materiel Command Band stationed at Redstone Arsenal.  He has received numerous awards and commendations for outstanding service and dedication to duty and country while serving in the US Army.  Mr. Mitchell has been a professional clarinetist for 15 years.  He performed with the Huntsville Symphony from 1997-2009 and has frequently performed and toured with the Nashville Sympony Orchestra, including a performance at Carnegie Hall.

DOUBLE REEDS – William Robinson directed bands at the junior and senior high
school levels in Huntsville, Alabama, for 31 years. He has served on the faculties
of Oakwood College and UAHuntsville and is an adjunct faculty member at
Alabama A&M University and Calhoun Community College. Mr. Robinson
maintains a private studio and has published lesson books for oboe and clarinet.

SAXOPHONES – Dr. David Ragsdale is the Interim Chair, Director of Bands,
and Associate Professor of Music at UAHuntsville. Dr. Ragsdale conducts the
Huntsville Youth Orchestra, the Huntsville Chamber Winds, and is an avid
conductor and clinician throughout the southeast.

TRUMPETS – Dr. Candelaria

TROMBONES – Billy Bargetzi has played professionally for 20+ years all over the
USA, the Caribbean, and in Europe. He currently performs with the Huntsville
Symphony Orchestra, the Broadway Theater League, and the Brass Band of
Huntsville. He maintains a large teaching studio and many of his students place
highly in the Alabama All-State and Honor Band programs.

HORNS – Dorrie Nutt is instructor of horn and brass quintet at UAHuntsville.
She has been actively involved in the Huntsville music community since 1981
and currently performs with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, the Flint River
Brass Quintet, and the Huntsville Brass Band.

EUPHONIUM/TUBA – Joel Mason attended the University of Cincinnati,
College-Conservatory of Music where he graduated with honors. Joel earned
a Master of Music Degree in Wind Conducting from Southern Oregon

PERCUSSION –Justin Swearinger is a senior Percussion Performance Major at
the UAHuntsville. He studies with Debi Loach and performs with numerous
ensembles at UAHuntsville as well as many community groups.

STRINGS – Viljar Weimann performs as principal second violin of the Huntsville
Symphony Orchestra and is currently music director/conductor of the Shoals
Symphony at University of North Alabama, where he also holds the position
of professor of strings. He earned his master’s degree in orchestral conducting
from the Cleveland Institute, and has guest conducted orchestras in the US and

CONDUCTING – Joe Lee is currently the Music Director of the Murfressboro
Symphony Orchestra and the Huntsville Youth Orchestra, and is Resident
Conductor of the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra. He is director of several
music festivals and has guest conducted orchestras in the US and Central
