We believe in families! We welcome families into our center. Family involvement is always important for children, but especially during the early years. We want you to be a part of your child’s early school experiences and encourage you to visit and participate in your child’s day. Our commitment to families includes providing opportunities for family fun and engagement. We pledge to partner with you on the wonderful journey of childhood.
We believe each child is a gift from God! Every child is individual and develops at his or her own pace. Our goal is to welcome your child and provide opportunities for growth in all aspects of development. From social to spiritual growth, from cognitive to physical, we provide developmentally appropriate activities and guidance that allow individual differences to blossom.
We believe in play! Play is an important aspect of early childhood. Children learn through play. Play not only provides children with opportunities for social growth, but also cognitive growth. Our day is structured to provide a variety of activities, including play, that encourage children’s development.
LICENSED PROGRAM
The Heart of the City Kids programs at First Baptist Church have been licensed by the Alabama State Department of Human Resources since our Full Day program opened in 1981. The physical space is also inspected and approved by the Madison County Health Department and Huntsville Fire Department.

Weekday programs
Full Day
Our Full Day program is open year round, Monday through Friday from 7:30 - 5:30 pm. This program offers full time, full day child care for families needing year round care. Care and learning is provided for children ages six weeks through Kindergarten.
Half Day
Infants - 2 years old
Our Mother's Morning Out program offers care for infants (six weeks) through two years old. This program is open from August to May, Monday through Friday from 9:00 - 1:00 pm. Openings vary depending upon the age of the child.
Preschool - Pre-Kindergarten
Preschool through Pre-Kindergarten classes are for children ages three through five. This program is open from August to May, Monday through Friday from 9:00 - 1:00 pm. Openings vary depending upon the age of the child.
New Children's Space
In 2019, our church decided to undergo a renovation of our Children's Ministry area - including Heart of the City Kids. This project was completed in 2023. You can view our new space above, and read more about it here.
